Dish of Dirt

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

14 crushed Oreo cookies (about 1 cup of crumbs)
1 pint chocolate ice cream
1/4 cup chocolate flavored syrup
10 gummy worms (for garnish)
1 half pint prepared whipped cream topping (for garnish)

Directions

1.      In each of four dessert dishes, place 2 tablespoons of cookie crumbs.
2.      Top each with 1/2 cup of ice cream, remaining 2 tablespoons of cookie crumbs and 1 tablespoon syrup. Garnish with gummy worms and whipped topping.

Christmas Mixed Glace Fruit Loaf


Ingredients;

185g butter
1/2 cup castor sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup finely chopped glace pineapple
1 1/2 cups glace cherries
1/2 cup finely chopped apricots
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon sweet sherry

Directions;

1.Grease a 15x25cm loaf pan, line base and sides with parchment paper, then grease paper.
2.Cream butter and sugar in a small bowl with electric mixer only until combined.
3.Add eggs quickly, one at a time. Beat until combined.
4.Transfer mixture into a large bowl.
5.Stir in fruit, then half of the sifted flours with the combined milk and Sherry.
6.Stir in remaining flour and milk mixture.
7.Spread mixture into prepared pan.
8.Bake in moderately slow oven for about 2 hours.
9.Cover with foil, cool in pan.

Applesauce-Raisin Bread

Ingredients1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1 3/4 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup raisins

Directions1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2.Grease an 8x4 pan.
3.Mix all ingredients and stir each time you add an ingredient.
4.Pour into prepared pan.
5.Bake about 1 hour or until done.

Broccoli Corn Bread   

Ingredients1 box Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix
4 eggs
1 onion, chopped
1 box frozen broccoli, chopped
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt

Directions1.Preheat oven to 350 Degrees.
2.Combine ingredients together.
3.Bake for 45 minutes.

LEMON POUND CAKE

1 1/2 cups butter, softened
3 cups sugar
8 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon extract
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice

1. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs; one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour, mixing well. Stir in lemon juice and extract. Pour batter into a greased and flour bundt pan.
2. Bake 350*F. for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.

3. Cool 15 minutes in pan.

Sausage & Egg Casserole


Ingredients

6 eggs
1 pound sausage
1 cup Bisquick
1 cup cheddar cheese
2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon oregano
salt & pepper, to taste

Directions

1.      Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.      Grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
3.      Brown sausage, drain. Mix in all remaining ingredients.
4.      Bake for 30 minutes.

"Whisker Cookie`s"
cookies Makes 60 cookies  

Ingredients3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) margarine
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup finely chopped candied red or green cherries
1/3 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 cup coconut

Directions1.Beat margarine with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
2.Add about half the flour, also add sugar, milk, and vanilla.
3.Beat till thoroughly combined.
4.Stir in remaining flour, cherries and pecans.
5.Shape into 8-inch long rolls.
6.Roll in coconut.
7.Wrap in wax paper; chill 2- 24 hours.
8.When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
9.Cut dough into 1/4-inch slices.
10.Place on an un-greased cookie sheet, for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
11.Cool cookies on a wire rack.

FARMERS APPLE PIE

1 unbaked (9-inch) pie shell
3 cups peeled apples (Delicious, Winesap or Macintosh)
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
dash of salt
1 cup heavy cream

Preheat oven to 450F.
Bake pie shell 8 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350F.

Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and cream in a bowl and mix well. Pour the apple mixture into the baked pie shell.

Bake for 1 hour.

Yield: 6 servings

CRACKLING CORN BREAD

1 cup cracklings, diced
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups self rising corn meal
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
¼ cup cooking oil

Cracklings are the pieces of meat remaining after the lard has been rendered from the pork. Crisply fried bacon or salt pork bits may be substituted.
Mix and sift together the dry ingredients. Add the buttermilk, stir in the cracklings or bacon bits. Form into oblong cakes and place in a greased baking pan.

Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 30 minutes.
